LAWN MOWING
Proper mowing is one of the most important practices in keeping your lawn healthy. Grass is like most plants, if you clip off the growing points (for grass, it’s in the crown, where the new leaves develop), the plants branch out and become denser, which in this case, turns thousands of individual grass blades into a tightly woven turf or a lawn. If you didn’t mow at all, your yard would look more like a prairie than a lawn. But the mere act of mowing isn’t what makes a lawn look good. Mowing height and mowing frequency determine how healthy and attractive your lawn looks.
CORE AERATING
Aeration involves perforating the soil with small holes to allow air, water and nutrients to penetrate the grass roots. This helps the roots grow deeply and produce a stronger, more vigorous lawn. The main reason for aerating is to alleviate soil compaction. Compacted soils have too many solid particles in a certain volume or space, which prevents proper circulation of air, water and nutrients within the soil. Excess lawn thatch or heavy organic debris buried under the grass surface can also starve the roots from these essential elements.
POWER RAKING/DETHATCHING
Power raking is the best way to remove thatch, dead grass and debris that has built up on your lawn over the winter. Removing thatch and debris allows for better absorption of water and fertilizer into the soil. Ideally power rake before over seeding to allow easier germination of new seed resulting in a greener, healthier lawn. In Calgary the ideal time is April 1 to May 15 which is right before grass enters its period of strongest growth.
POWER EDGING
Edging keeps grass from overwhelming the curb, sidewalks, driveway and other concrete surfaces next to the lawn. Edging is one of the best ways to instantly make your property look amazing. It creates clean and sharp lines along your driveway and walkways. Over time, debris lands on the concrete and settles next to the blades of grass against it. As time goes by, the grass roots into this debris, and "climbs" up onto the surface. In order to keep curb and other sidewalk and driveway edges looking good, you need to clean away a margin of rooted grass and debris.
OVER SEEDING
Over Seeding builds and thickens your lawn with varieties of grass that improve the make-up of your lawn. We carefully select the types of seed that is best suited for your lawn based on its environment, traffic and other conditions. We determine the highest rated seed, that will produce the best results in our service areas. It will help to thicken up those areas that are really thin and not looking their best.
Over Seeding should always be combined with Core Aeration for better germination rates. Aeration fractures and disturbs the soil to ensure seed to soil contact, thus aiding in the success of young seedlings to become established.
PATHWAY PERFECTION
A lot of times what grows between the stones of your walkways or patio areas is in fact grass. Since our weed control product is strategically design to kill weeds & not the grass a "Pathway Perfection" service can be added to your lawn maintenance plan to cover these areas. Our "Pathway Perfection" add on, guarantees that these areas stay weed and grass free. We offer individual treatments or full season treatments as well.
